Similar to Maximizer      When I was looking at softwares for sale I compared in 2005 Act and Maximizer, Max was offering way more points that I was looking for. I tested Act2010 and it look like a copy of Max, but some stuff that I like in max: if the phone ring it open a windows, find your customer file open it for you. I din't dig but I din't found such thing in Act 2010. It looked a little faster than Max, but some features act don't have anyway.
Act! is unworkable and Sage is to blame      I have been a loyal Act! user for many years. A few years I bought a copy after Sage took over and it was in Danish or similar language and was unworkable. I bought the latest version through Amazon a few months ago. Ever since Sage bought the product it has become harder and harder to use. It does not update old Act! databases well and the one thing I want it to do - email mail-merge - it flat can't. I am so disappointed in my purchase. Of course Amazon's pricing and service are great as usual, but Act! has become a total dog. I wish it weren't, believe me, I need what it USED to do very simply: email mail-merge. Over the years I have bought Act! for myself and various businesses at least 6 individual times. Sage charges you for any support. Booooo!
I read the reviews on Amazon but bought Act 2010 anyway...      The promise of what is offered is wonderful but the features don't work. Here are some things I couldn't do and some observations. Couldn't register ownership key online, had to do it over phone. Couldn't import Act 6 database. I spent a several hours trying then spent 2 1/2 more hours on the phone with tech support. At the end of this time, tech support said I needed to hire an Act consultant because they no longer support Act 6 and the database must be corrupt. But, my Act 6 works fine. So I don't think there is a file corruption problem. I think there is an Act 2010 problem. A cool Act 2010 feature should map the current clients address, but it doesn't work. It takes you to the map site but doesn't recognize the address. You still have to type it in. In the open program, clicking certain places causes pop-up ads for additional services. This is built into the software and I couldn't find anyplace to turn it off. As for the documentation, hitting myself in the head with a hammer would be less painful that pacing my brain to follow the recorded tutorials included on the installation disc. Regarding CRMs, any solution would be better. I read the reviews on Amazon but bought Act 2010 anyway thinking the reviewers that gave it low ratings might not be computer savvy. I was wrong.(sorry) Save your money and - most of all - save your time. A one star rating is too high.
Works but is slow...      I am running this on a Quad Core Phenom II X4 945 processor and it can still drag this machine to its knees. It works just fine for what it is, but I find myself waiting on it quite a bit.
ACT! 2010 has plenty of issues with NO support!      I took a risk with ACT! by Sage 2010 even after reading the positive and negative comments posted on Amazon. Don't make the same mistake I did and purchase this product. After installing it, I immediately began to have problems with MS Word and Outlook. I called the tech support number listed on the website and got this recording, "...in an effort to best support our customers, ALL of our support staff is currently in training..." I tried several other times with similar results. Makes me wonder if there really is a tech support staff or if they're ALL getting training how knowledgable will they be of the product. I tried the online chat but, there was a charge for this service. This is becoming a nightmare...
