Bigger, better, meaner and leaner than ME1 Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I am someone who first finished ME1 and than immediately played ME2 with the orginal Shephard imported over. Intially I was put off by the tonning down of the rpg elements, the complete overhaul of loot/inventory system as well as the combat system. Overtime the more I played ME2 the more I realized it was done for the better. The orginal ME1 had in my view a bloated loot/inventory system with mobs dropping too many things to keep track off and money really mean't nothing as almost any item of significance came from drops. The talents trees in the original also felt too redundant and not specific enough which was also addressed in ME2 and the talents now gives you fewer but more powerful meaningful abilities. In all I now agree with the overhaul the game mechanics went from ME1 to ME2.

Mass Effect 2 with its save-the-universe plot, its conversation options, tightly knit high quality cut-scenes, and a more robust combat system truly makes the game feel like an interactive sci-fi movie. I will say games like ME2 given 4-5 years more and subsequent advancements in computer hardware/software technologies will make movies eventually obsolete. Why watch a movie when you can virtually star in it controlling the actions as well as story-line than rather watch someone else do it for you.

In all the game is bigger in scope in almost every way from ME1 including the climatic finale at Omega 4 relay. I literally couldnt put the game away once I started the final mission all the way to its ending. I don't agree with others that it didnt match the scope of the orginal. In my view it exceeded the orginal game ending in almost all aspects; graphically, plot wise and had lot more emotional trappings to the mission which will make you regret or ponder at some of the choices you made during the finale; in all the finale is lot more involved than the orginal. (*SPOILER* if you are dont carefully think over how you allocate your team members for the final mission you might end losing some really valuable members which actaully had me play the ending thrice to undo some of the choices I intially made.)

In a nut-shell highly recomended. ME2 just like a true hollywood blockbuster sequel is bigger in almost all aspects from the orginal and I am really looking forward to ME3.

Disappointing downgrade from MassEffect 1 Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5
Mass Effect 1 had an overall general better experience. Gone in 2 are kneeling with sniper rifle to steady it, driving of vehicles, ability to really know how different weapons compare, ease of galaxy navigation, etc. It's as if they threw away everything and started over instead of building on what they had. And if you try to replay it, you're forced to watch the entire cinematic portion again, which goes on and on and on.

Great follow up to one one of the best SciFi RPGs on the PC Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
The good: Great improvement on the game-play (more like a First Person Shooter than in Mass Effect 1), Great and epic story that is enhanced when you help your team mates face their personal issues. The required exploration can sometimes get tedious, but can turn up some good surprises.

Great music, as well as presentation. Graphics has been improved over the original and fewer graphical glitches.

RPG elements have been reduced considerable compared to the original (personally I prefer the changes made). You spend less time moving weapons and their enhancements around, you don't have to worry about what amour to outfit your team mates with and there are less abilities to allocate skill point to. In my opinion, this makes the game-play more focused as well as each team mate more appropriate for specific tasks.

If possible, please play Mass Effect 1 and import your saved game into Mass Effect 2; it makes the experience more fulfilling.

The Bad and the Ugly: (why the 4 stars on the fun side of the game).... there were random crashes especially when I was attempting to assign abilities to short cut keys. Sometimes my character would get stuck above the environments or within walls while exploring, this however should not discourage anyone who is considering this game.

I will highly recommend it for anyone who likes First Person Shooters but is weary of the whole RPG thing; this is a very tame RPG and would appeal to anyone who is new to RPGs.

Brand new and about $20 off retail. I would buy more games from this seller, especially with new releases, shipped within a couple days. A+ service

I've played my share of video games, and from a mature standpoint, this is the best game ever! Period. The characters are so real that I felt like I was in a movie. The characters are great and story line superb.I've played it thru so many times I lost count, and am still discovering new things. It's a mature game that doesn't dumb you down, but allows for constant interaction. Voices are great (Martin Sheen, awesome)and I loved the romance angle! We need more of that. You feel good after playing it; not like a homicidal killer.
