FileMaker Pro Academic The best thing about FileMaker Pro is that it will work on all platforms. I share data and forms with both Mac Users and PC'rs. I am familiar with designing a basic database, and was able to do so right away. However there are options that will keep me learning for many months ahead. The designation "no platform" simply means that it will work on Mac, PC, or Linux. The Academic version appears to be identical to the regular one. Acad Filemaker Pro 10 Terrific program, easy upgrade I had depended on a very old version of Filemaker Pro for a home database for years. When I got a new computer it was clear I needed a new version. Filemaker has dozens of functions that I never use, but its basic uses are easy to master. The flexibility in designing reports and layouts is great. The academic version offers all that we needed and more, and the instructions for converting our backed-up data from the earlier version worked like a charm.
