Hallmark Card Studio 2008 Deluxe [OLD VERSION] customer reviews: Not worth the $ If you have the 2007 edition, there is NO need to buy this. I'm so disappointed in this Hallmark program. I wish it had better graphics to choose from. Most of them IMO were cheesy cheesy generic-like clipart. It gets the job done, but it's not fun. wonderful product This is awsome. I don't have to run to the store to get a card anymore. Lots of cards to choose from.Worth the spend! Best Investment Ever! I buy every version. The Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe is a wonderful way to personalize a card for all my friends and family. It is also great for scrapbooking my family photos. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Useful, but s-l-o-w I have used this software for 10 months now, & I've found it very useful, but oh, so frustratingly s-l-o-w. It is easy to use, once it finally comes up (took 20 minutes last night), so that even my 6 yr. old DGGD makes her cards all by herself. We've sent a lot of cards to overseas troops, so even though there are some patriotic cards, I'd sure like Hallmark to have more selection suitable for deployed troops. I don't normally buy cards because they are so expensive, but it is nice to be able to send personalized cards, so I do use it more than I expected. Although there are a lot of designs, because there are so many categories & unusable ones, that I would really like to be able to download new designs. One thing that has been particularly useful are the labels & tags. I make all the tags for The Shoebox Project & that is helpful. For the past decade or more, I've printed all my Christmas & birthday tags (I could only handwrite "TO: Jeremy From: Grandma & Grandpa" so many times), but with this program I can easily use clip art & color for tags that are a lot more fun. I use different holiday clip art for each gift recipient so I can easily find the correct tag in the drawer where I keep them (e.g., elder DD gets a cute Santa face, while I-for-Idiot SIL gets a sprig of holly because I couldn't find a holiday dunce cap). I really dislike that I have to fire up a PC laptop to use this program. I find myself balancing the laptop on top of my trusty Mac keyboard so I can use the same cord for the printer. I also dislike that within categories, there is a sameness to the clip art. Many designs are clearly done by the same artist & are too much alike. I've tried several times to contact Hallmark to see whether I have to buy an entire new program for 2009 instead of an upgrade. Could never reach a human. Note that in late 2007 Sam's Club sold the 2008 deluxe program for a good discount, but I haven't found a lower than retail price yet for 2009. This program should prove to be most users' own personal stationery store! Beginners should have no difficulty enjoying the multitude of extra features this program provides, and with a little perseverance, should be able to produce some pretty exotic and unique greeting cards, as well as the myriad options available to the first time user. I was able to send an e-card almost immediately after the download. Although I could not just `click and send' as with the program I had been using, my previously mentioned perseverance paid off, when I discovered there is but one added step here, requiring saving the card to documents, then retrieving it for either printing, or emailing it to one of the contacts in my computer's address book. I feel it would be great if Hallmark could eliminate this one step. It would make it easier for the user. The clip art and font selections are multitudinous, with some rather innovative items and features not available in other greeting card programs I've used in the past. The novice may be overwhelmed with all the options one is given with Hallmark Card Studio 2008, but an overabundance of features, I've found, is a lot better than an `under abundance'!
