This Program is Exceptional For Learning ASL Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I too was a little aprehensive when I saw the date on the product, but for a lousy $20 - I thought I'd check it out.

First: It runs on everything PC. I have it installed on 3 machines that run 1)Windows XP Pro 2)Windows Vista 32 bit and 3) Windows Vista 64 bit. It runs great on all of them.

I am a college student enrolled for 3 consecutive courses in ASL, and after using SigningAvatar v.2 for several weeks, I am really pleased with how much it is helping me. I can make the person avatar be closer or further from me (smaller or larger),turn him (or Her - there's about 10 to choose from) all the way from left to right. This enables me to see the hands from any angle. I can also speed up or slow down the avatar's signing to whatever pace meets my level of proficiency.

With a word-search textbox, I can ask it to finger spell the word, make the sign for a word, and put the sign into a sentence. Of course there is an alphabet roster on the bottom of the screen so anytime I need to, I can see the person avatar sign any letter of the alphabet. I highly recommend SigningAvatar to anyone who is serious about learning American Sign Language.

Very good product on sign language Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
Make sign language easy, fun, and shows how people use sign language everyday and it is part of every day life; especially the common sign language.

    Good buy.

This system does a really good job of explaining the meanings and the signs. It is good for beginners. But, be aware that the beginner will feel more comfortable starting with disc #3. They teach you the signs and then they give you practice sentences with the signs that you were taught. It is definitely a beginner system. I would to find some systems for the intermediate and advanced levels.

Wish it would install on my machine Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
This is actually a collection of a bunch of different ASL programs. That might sound good at first, but it's not. They are all over the place as far as quality, and most of them won't install on my 64-bit Vista machine. Waste of money for me.
